Astimo
House in Kingston Upon Thames
Astimo provided Quantity Surveying services for the development of this unique house in Kingston Upon Thames. The project included the demolition of an existing building and the construction of a spectacular award winning residential property together with external works including the addition of a 'natural swimming pond'.
On a sloping site the Lower Level or Garden Level is cut into the ground supported by beautifully finished fairfaced curved concrete retaining walls. A fully glazed elevation of curved glass doors and curved fixed panes overlooks the garden at this same level. The staircase wraps around a fairfaced concrete rotunda which is housed in a larger curved glass rotunda at Street Level. The floating first floor is only supported by the stair rotunda and a separate round fairfaced concrete column. Elliptical on plan the first floor is clad with bespoke shaped solid aluminium rods. Internally and externally the property is finished to the highest quality of workmanship and materials.

The house recently featured in The Sunday Times Home supplement and won Large House of the Year and the prestigious Manser Medal for the best house in the UK at the British Homes Awards 2017.
